Guest post!! Meet Whitney :)

This is Whitney and she has such a cute blog! You. Will. Love. It. So make sure you check out her blog!! :)
Hello! I'm Whitney from the land of sunshine and I am super excited about getting to guest post today! Denise's blog was one of the first I found when I joined blogger world and I absolutely love it so I'm super pumped that I get to be a part of it today!
First, I'll share a little about myself. I'm 21 years old and I'm fixing to celebrate (Sept. 5) my 2 year anniversary with Michael. We don't have any little nuggets YET but we do have three adorable little furbabes. I love the beach, sunshine, living in Florida, my family, friends, blogging, fashion, shopping and reality tv. If you want to know any more about me, you have to head on over to my blog and check out the fun little navigation bar that says it all. :)
Denise asked me to blog about how to stay positive during situations. Money, Marriage, daily life, etc. And that is something that I struggle with frequently. It's hard to stay positive when you feel like the entire world is against you and hard to keep that smile on your face when you totally don't have it in you. You see, I was doomed from the beginning. I haven't been able to fake a smile since all my years of Chuck-E-Cheese birthday parties when I was little, opening up the gift and realizing I already HAD that game and saying "BUT MOM! I ALREADY HAVE THIS PRESENT!" in front of everyone and remaining mad from there on out with a pout on my face. Sorry, Mom! (From there on out we had little pep-talks before every holiday and birthday, "Now if you open a gift that you already have let's not say anything and tell me after.. when everyone is gone.. when we are at home.." "ooooooh okay, mom!")

I know, I know. It's seems hard that this cute little thing could be such a diva, huh?
Believe it.
Marriage is a huge test of trials and tribulations and sometimes it's hard to stay positive. And with marriage comes finances which seem to disenegrate after you're married! (kidding, kind of :) My best advice is a strong relationship with God. I'm not perfect, and neither is Michael, but having HIM remain the center of our marriage is definitely what keeps us going. Sometimes you just have to push whatever mess you're going through aside and say "Okay Lord, if THIS is your plan for me then I receive it." He isn't going to give us a task we can't handle. Whether it be a job, a class, a marriage, a friendship, with him on our side we will make it through.
There's a great song by Chris Tomlin called "Our God" and it is one of my favorites! My favorite part of the song says this:
Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God, Our God…

Into the darkness you are shining
Out of the ashes we Rise
There’s no One like You
None like You.
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
If he's on our side, who can be against us? How can we not stay positive knowing there is a God who died for us because he loves us that much and that we don't have to carry the buden of WHY something is happening? That alone is proof that there is a meaning for our lives. No matter what you're going through, He's there. So THAT my friends, is how I stay positive! Knowing there is a reason for everything and a BIG plan that I might not know just yet in God's book for me!
Always remember that what you associate yourself with is what you become, or what you seem. Your friends, your music, places you hang out. If we want to remain positive in times of hardship we have to sorround ourselves with people + things that will lift us up when we're down, not shove us further into the ground. Easier said than done, trust me, I know! If you ever need a friend, or someone to talk to, or even someone to just vent to, let me know! Us ladies (and men if you're reading too!) have to stick together as brothers and sisters in Christ!
Take note: I am NOT smiling 100% of the time, I or my marriage do NOT have it all together, sometimes my bank account looks like it's been robbed, and sometimes you'll read posts of me ranting and raving too. But knowing I'm not the one in control of my life makes it 100x easier and keeps me positive.

Thanks for having me and I sure hope to see you over at my blog!

a letter

Dear blogger world,

It's time for me to come clean. To stop pretending that everything is fine and to let all my new friends what my life is and has been for quite some time now. After all, that's what friends do! I'm a little nervous that some of you may not want to be my friend anymore, some might judge me and disagree with me, and some just wont understand! I've gotten so good at hiding it and putting on a fake smile for a picture. I didn't want to believe what was happening but over the weekend my prayers were answered. I felt a peace come over me that I've never felt before, a feeling of comfort and reassurance that what I'm doing is the best thing for me. There's a time when you have to put what's best for your child aside and do what's best for you. At first that piece of advice sounded so selfish and wrong. But after days, weeks, and months it started to sound less and less selfish. There is only so much one human being can take. Too much unhappiness and heartbreak. Too much anger and depression.

The husband and I are starting Marriage Counseling this week. Our marriage has been on the rocks for quite some time now! Surprising? I know, we are good at hiding it. But I can't hide it anymore, since it was my idea for the big 'D'. A while ago I was asked if I'd rather live a life with someone I'm unhappy with or live the rest of my life alone. That question hasn't left my mind since it was asked so many weeks ago. I woke up Sunday morning knowing exactly what I wanted and what I needed to do. I need to better my life, for me. I need to focus on my relationship with the Lord. He is my rock!

When I started this blog I only had a few close friends following me, and now I have over 50. That's nothing compared to most of your blogs but it's a great feeling that so many people around the world care. I've never met most of you and some day maybe we will meet in person and become life long friends. I would love that! Friends are what I need right now. I need people who will support and love me while I go through this process. It's going to be a long, hard, stressful process! And I'm sure my blog will show it. But doesn't everyone deserve a chance at happiness? I thought so and that's what I'm trying to do for myself. Be happy!

We all need to be happy. With or without someone there by our side. For me right now, I guess it's without.
The Lord is my Rock

it's friday, friday

"It's Friday it's Friday my favorite day of the week!"

(anyone else heard that song?)

Happy Friday! I'm so glad its the weekend. And what a great busy weekend I've got ahead of me! And I couldn't be more excited. I am in a great mood today and I'm going to share as to why to the world!! A couple simple things made my day today!

#1- Kyson slept in and so did I!

#2- I uploaded pictures from Girls Night that I forgot I took! Every Wednesday my good friend and I have a girls night. Each week we take turns in making a yummy dessert and we watch girly shows like Pretty Little Liars, Army Wives and we recently started The Lying Game (we're not too sure about The Lying Game yet). It's so much fun! We laugh, play with the kids (she brings her two little girls. One of them is only a few months old and it gives me my baby fix :)), and gossip!

#3- I was informed that I only have one more week of Physical Therapy! Finally!!

#4- While I was at Physical Therapy, the cutest little old man I ever did see (who was recently discharged) came in and gave a small bouquet of three red roses to every one there! SO cute. It's so nice to know there are still southern gentlemen in this world!

This is a sweet and simple to the point kind of post because I have a hot date tonight :)
Enjoy these pictures from Girls Night!

Your luck has been changed for the better today.

I had my fortune told to me by none other than a fortune cookie!
It's been a great day :)

Preslee's story

I came across a blog today and just HAD to share their story! It made me ball my eyes out but it also made me grow. My testimony of Jesus Christ grew a tremendous amount after reading their story. And since their story is best coming from them, here is there blog. Head on over to the right side of their blog and read Preslee's story! It will have you in tears but you'll also feel the spirit so strongly! They were also interviewed for a newspaper and that story is here. I can't express into words how I would handle going through something like that. Kyson is my entire universe! Those of you who have a relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, I hope your testimony grows by this. And those of who you don't know much about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints you can learn about it here.

I have this picture hanging in my living room and I will never look at it the same!

I am a strong believer in my Faith and I know that family will see their precious daughter Preslee again!

weekend fun

We started out our weekend with a big breakfast of waffles in bed! It was glorious! It's been so long since we've been able to do that. We then spent half the day at the pool. It was the most perfect day! Not too hot but still warm enough to keep cool in the pool. Plus it was Tax Free weekend so everyone was out shopping like mad people and no one was at the pool! Score! Can I just say how much I'm loving my new camera? I love that it has the Sport continuous mode. I would show you but that would consist of about 30 pictures taken in a split second! So cool but that's a lot of uploading. It was so nice to be able to soak up some rays and play with my little family with no worries. We love swimming! And even though I'm a sunscreen Nazi, Dave and I both got a nice tan. :)

Dave did his boxing practice and I just had to play with my camera more, so I took some pictures. He's not too happy about it.. I never realized how sexy boxing is! I loved watching him! :)

We made yummy dinners every night together and watched a couple of good movies! The Eagle with beautiful Channing Tatum is one of them. SO good! And because my hubby has to watch every movie that's about the military we also watched Battle Los Angeles. Which was also good and not too cheesy! It was a nice relaxing weekend with plenty of fun. We spent every second together, which was perfect! Just what we needed.

19 days til our vacation!! :)

Now for our weekend in pictures. Enjoy!

obsessions that lead to a dance off?

My master plan of a blog is inching its way to being complete. Until next time I change it ;)

But for now I want to share with the blogger world some things that I've been completely obsessing over the last couple weeks. And I mean OBSESSING!!

flavored water > water

Bruno Mars > everything else

Flyaways < Redken water wax

Little Caesars < Totino's

These are some amazing items. Things that I refuse to live without.. Until I find new obsessions. And can someone tell me why my google searches are all in German?! I need a translator to come undo whatever Kyson did to it. I prefer understanding what I'm reading! One year of German is not enough. Oh and another thing I'm obsessed with? Random dance off's with the husband. We know how to bust some moves. White people style! Its usually in the kitchen, with an unknown timing. Although yesterday it was in the truck to ...baby one more time by Britney Spears. With the windows down. We got awesome looks from strangers! Our dance off's consist of three things..
1) no coreography
2) trying to one up each other on our sweet moves
3)someone usually gets hurt

exhibit A.
Dave whipping out his Irish Folk Dancing...

...but Denise one up's him with her Tai Chi moves!

Dave then plays with her emotions with his Contemporary style.

It turns into an all out dance brawl!

Then quickly escalates into a hand stand competition!!

Jealous?

These are our normal days of dance! Maybe I'll video tape it one day so everyone can see just how awesome our dancing really is! :)

Blogger award

I have a bunch of new followers and I just want to kind of introduce myself to you guys. And what better way then to accept an award from my good friend Paula over at Life's Little Lessons. Her blog is one of my very favorites and I love reading all of her posts. She's such a sweetheart and has one of the best personalities! So check out her blog! Anyways she passed on to me this award:

The rules after accepting this award are:
Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post (See above!!)
Share 7 things about yourself
Pass this award on to 5 other recently discovered blogs

It was hard for me to come with just 5 other blogs, because I love so many! But here they are.

These are five blogs that I follow religiously! They are all such fun, outgoing, creative blogs and I love each of them! And now seven facts about mua.. Its hard coming up with 7 things that everyone doesn't already know about me. But I'll do my best!

1- 60's music is some of my favorite music to listen to. I could listen to The Beach Boys, The Beatles,
Chicago etc all day long! Music is a huge part of my life. I play multiple instruments and I have a passion for singing. I've sang in church groups, talent shows, graduations, and award ceremonies. I've always wanted to try out for American Idol but I'm too afraid of rejection.

2- When it comes to a good steak I can eat more then most men. My husband is very proud to brag about me when it comes to how much steak I can eat! Especially with how skinny I am. He thinks I could enter eating competitions, I tell him "No way!"

3- I'm in a couple local commercials! haha if you live in West Texas you may have seen them. A local hair school recruited a few girls with pretty hair to be in their commercials, banners, fashion shows, and brochures. I was chosen for all four! Lucky me.

4- When I was little I had a crazy obsession with band aids! I would stick them all over my legs and completely freak out if anyone tried to take them off. I would keep them on til I got sores from them. I know, freak right?

5- I've saved someones life! She's my cousin. We're very close. We were camping one time and she choked on something and I gave her the Heimlich maneuver. We were only about 14 years old and no one else was around so I was the only there to help!

6- I've been offered positions in 2 different movies. One when I was 10. My family vacationed to Disney Land and I was offered to be in a movie. I can't remember what it was about but my parents said no. The other time was when I was 12. They offered me to play the role of a famous athlete as a child. Again, my parents said no! Both were legit offers.

7- For all you LDS folks, I'm related to M Russel Ballard. Him and my grandma are cousins. If you don't know who he is you can learn about him here.

Hopefully you learned a few new things about me!
