i got crafty

Reminder: This is your last chance to get your questions to ask Dave and I for our Q & A post. The questions can be anything, they don't have to be personal at all! Fun questions are a lot of fun :)

A few weeks ago I was feeling crafty. I did a couple projects that I've seen on Pinterest that apparently everyone else already has, so this may not be very exciting for you, but it's exciting for me ha! First I made a dry erase board/picture frame thingy. I don't really know the actual name for it. It took all of ten minutes to make. Super quick, super easy!

I went to Hobby Lobby, picked up the frame, some scrapbook paper, and some stick-on letters and made this gem. I love Hobby Lobby because it seems like everything is always 50% off. Dave and I have had so much fun leaving little notes for each other. Every morning I wake up to the sweetest notes from him and he comes home from work to the sweetest notes from me. We're just so sweet!

The second project I did was a homemade chalkboard. This one was such a headache to make but so worth it.

The mirror is from Hobby Lobby, I got it on clearance and we grabbed the Krylon chalkboard spray paint and the red spray paint for the frame (originally white). We got home and Dave helped me take it apart and do all the painting. We let it dry for a day, hung it and tried drawing all over it. The only problem was, the chalk didn't work! We tried breaking it in, cleaning it everything and still nothing. So I did some research and found that most people have problems with the Krylon spray paint. So I scurried on over to the Home Depot and bough the Rust Oleum Chalkboard Spray Paint. It works much better!! A friend of mine suggested a certain type of chalk that shows up so vibrantly, as you can see. I've had fun drawing pictures and writing out quotes on it but I forgot just how much I hate the sound of chalk on a chalkboard.
Oh well!

I got this idea from Chelsea and thought it would be fun!

. . . really into rap music.
. . . got my first cell phone. The Nokia brick!
. . . a girl who didn't care about anyone but herself.
. . . thought that if a guy said hi to me, it automatically meant he loved me.

5 years ago I was
. . . 20 years old.
. . . convinced I was the hottest girl alive.
. . . going through my party phase.
. . . going through a hard break up.
. . . being a very spontaneous girl without a care in the world.
. . . flat broke!
. . . going to school.
. . . laughed at everything and sometimes getting in trouble for it.
. . . started getting involved with my man, Dave :)
. . . loved taking pictures of myself, thank you Myspace.

Two years ago I was
. . . mothering a two year old.
. . . working my booty off.
. . . having a really hard time being happy with anything.
. . . really focused on my relationship with God.
. . . started volunteering for the Air Force.
. . . realizing that my fashion was slowly becoming more grown up.
. . . wishing I could move.
. . . slowly watched more and more reality tv.

Today I am
. . . learning what really matters in life.
. . . making big life decisions with Dave.
. . . wondering where we'll live next.
. . . experimenting with cooking.
. . . wishing I could see my family more often.
. . . bringing music back into my life.
. . . excited for our summer vacations!
. . . remodeling our house.
. . . dreading turning 26 in February!

Two years from now I will be
. . . living in a new place!
. . . 27 years old.
. . . holding my second little baby.
. . . healthy as a horse!
. . . the best wife and mother there ever was!

weekend recap

This weekend we spent doing a lot of "fun to us" things. We've had such perfect weather in Texas and really wanted to take advantage. We spent most of the weekend outside playing! We went out and got some wings from Buffalo Wild Wings which are always so good! Kyson joined us along with his teddy bear and toy air plane. I took pictures but Mr Camera decided they weren't good enough and deleted them without my consent. That jerk! We took Kyson to the park three times, he loved it! He played on toys with other kids and rode his bike for a while. Dave and I people watched and laughed a whole lot. We're mean!

We went and spent hours at Target, which is so easy to do! We played with toys, played dress up and designed our house in our head. Target is my favorite place ever and I could probably live there. Permanently!

We walked down the Barbie aisle and Kyson stopped, pointed to this Barbie and said, 'Mommy, it's just like you!" Which led to a little girl shopping with her Dad say, "Daddy, look she's like Barbie!" It made me blush.
We ran into some friends and started talking to them, when I turned around this is how I found Kyson!

Target is fun!

We rented some movies too. We finally saw Pitch Perfect! It was so funny and Dave actually asked me if we could buy it!? I was speechless. For some reason I had the Titanic song stuck in my head so we rented it. We've both seen it a hundred times and I still cry when I watch it. At least three times. It's a classic! To make up for it I stuffed my face with Sour Pouch Kids Berry flavor. Oh my goodness, so yummy!
We had fun this weekend, like I said we did things that are "fun to us", most people would probably say how boring we are. Ha!
Don't forget to ask us some questions for our Q & A post coming up. We need some more! :)

Kyson turned 4

Ok peeps, I'm only a few posts away from my 200th post and I want to do something fun! I want to do a
Q & A post. VLOG style, again. I've done this before and thought it was so much fun, so I want to do it again! So I want all of my readers to come up with a creative question to ask Dave and I and we'll answer it in our video. It can be anything from what kind of vacuum do we have to what crazy things we've done. The sky's the limit. You can watch our first video here

My baby turned 4 years old on Monday. Can you believe it?! We didn't have a party this year because we're saving our money up for summer fun so we just had a small shin dig. We spoiled the kid rotten and he got away with pretty much everything. We started the day off with corn bread pancakes (Kyson's favorite) followed up with his gifts. After we played and played and played with lego's.

He got a bunch of new lego's and a piggy bank. He also got a bunch of money from his Nana. He's saving up for a trip to Disneyland this summer and he's so excited about it!
I slaved in the kitchen all day making him his birthday cake. Ok not really, it only took two hours but it turned out perfectly! Kyson is crazy about M&M's so what better cake than an M&M one?!
He loved it! He made us sing to him three times and he blew out candles three times! Silly boy :)

We had such a fun day with our handsome 4 year old!
He also had his four year check up. He weighs 37 pounds and is 41 inches tall. The kid is going to be a football star! He had to do an eyesight test and it was adorable. He got his booster shots, which totally broke my heart, he screamed! He was so mad at the nurse! He also got his flu vaccine and his ears cleaned, which was totally disgusting! It made me so sick to my stomach that I had to sit down. Seriously so traumatic for the both of us! But he's as healthy as can be!
Cheers to having a happy healthy fourth year!!

Don't forget those questions!!

Happy Birthday Ky Ky

Today's my baby's birthday, he's 4!!
I cannot believe that four years ago today I was holding 6 pounds of perfection! I remember those long 4 days in the hospital like it happened yesterday. We were so happy!

The first year flew by so fast. He was such a happy baby with no major problems. It was such a fun year full of Kyson's 'firsts'.

Kyson hit his terrible two's at 1 1/2 and he hit it with full force! It was so stressful but we pushed thru it and learned so much!

Kyson really started developing his personality at age two. He is such a sweetheart! Not a day goes by that he doesn't tell me he loves me. He really started getting interested in building things and art.

Kyson's third year was by far the most stressful year! He developed such an attitude and it was so hard to deal with. He learned how to talk back and he became so good at it! But he also became more loving, he actually wanted to cuddle with me and gave lots of kisses.

Now he's four. He's not a toddler anymore, he's a little boy. He remembers things and its so strange to me that I have a kid who is old enough to remember things that happened last year! He starts Pre-School this year and I have a slight meltdown when I think about it.
He has been the greatest blessing in my life. He's so smart, so witty, and so funny. Not a day goes by that he doesn't make me laugh.

Mommy and Daddy love you bud, Happy Birthday!

grieving the loss

A few days ago I found out that one of my Uncle's passed away. To be honest, I was shocked but not that shocked to hear of the news. My uncle had a lifetime full of serious health issues. The thing that really bothers me is knowing that he died alone in his apartment. His body wasn't found for a couple days. He was only 66. His birthday is next Tuesday, along with his Funeral. So instead of celebrating his birthday, he'll be buried. Not exactly an ideal birthday. It's the first death in my family in over 15 years so it kind of shook everyone up. The next day another one of my uncle's had a stroke and was not healthy enough for the surgery he needed to unclog a valve to his heart.
I learned about my uncle's passing on Facebook. Something like that doesn't need to be announced on the internet the second you find out. I, along with my cousins, my uncle, and siblings hadn't heard the news yet and all of the sudden its being blasted on facebook. Facebook has taken over our lives, people can't help but to post every detail about themselves on the internet. It's sad really. I'll be the first to admit that I spend more than enough time on facebook every week reading peoples status updates, looking at pictures and learning what's going on in other peoples lives.
I'm kind of all over the place with this post but I guess the point is facebook isn't as important as some may think it is, get outside and experience life! Make a difference in the World. Smell the flowers and live cause no one can confidently say that they will still be living tomorrow. Having a recent death in the family has made me realize just how special life is and I don't want to spend such a big chunk of my life sitting at a computer. I'll be squeezing my family a little tighter from now on.

So in this hard time for my family please keep us in your prayers.

Cruze-ing

Last week I got myself a new car! A 2013 Chevy Cruze. I'm in love! Sometimes being an adult is really hard and sometimes, it's awesome! We traded in my Suzuki for something more modern. My poor Suzuki was such a good car but it was getting old and was starting to have engine problems. I wanted to trade it in while it was still worth something. I've always wanted a candy apple red car and I finally got one and it has all the bells and whistles. My car actually knows me! I'm known as "Sexy Mama" haha I love that I can start it with a remote and that it has a touch screen, which has everything on it. It even tells me what movies are playing and where. Tell me that's not cool? Maybe I'm a little behind on vehicle technologies but my Suzuki had nothing like this. I actually had to use the key to unlock it! haha oh how spoiled are we as humans? This will definitely make long road trips much more enjoyable!

So long Suzuki, you will be missed. But only a teeny tiny bit.
the only picture I could find of the suzuki

my dad

57 years ago my Dad was born. He was born and raised in Cody Wyoming but spent much of his life in L.A.
He's the youngest of six and was very poor growing up. At one point in his life his parents house burned down and they lost everything. They then moved into an unfinished house that only had a basement. They lived there for about 6 months.
He calls it the underground house, it's still there today. I saw it with my own two eyes back in July. Some of the original furnishings are still there including a bed, the fire burning stove and even the kitchen sink. My Dad grew up all over Wyoming and eventually moved to California with his family. He graduated from high school and soon met my Mom. They were married after dating for 6 weeks and just celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. They moved to Utah and had a family. All five of us kids. My Dad has worked for the same company for 30 years and has made quite a living for himself and my family. They still live in Southern Utah and love every second of it.
Most of the pictures of my dad are in Utah but I just happened to have a few of us together.

I love my Dad so much. He is such an amazing father to his kids and was and still is an amazing role model. He has taught me so much and has taught me what hard work and dedication really means. He has taught me about God and what He has done for each of us and has taught me to strive to be like Him until the day I die. He was always there supporting me whether is was a dance competition, a track meet, or an awards ceremony. My Dad loved his family more than anything and would have done anything for us. He taught me how to ride a bike, how to hit a baseball, throw a football, and to drive a car. He even played Barbies with me. He's very protective about my blonde hair and hated all of my boyfriends haha He's an amazing Father and an even more amazing Grandfather. He loves classic cars and yard work. He still acts like a kid around his best friend since high school and washes my moms car every Saturday. His feet are very ticklish and likes to tease people. I have such an amazing relationship with my dad and love talking to him about anything.
