my valentine's day

Each year Dave and I make plans for Valentine's Day but we never celebrate on the actual day. Crowded restaurants just aren't my thing! So we celebrated on Saturday! But on Thursday I took Kyson to the store to pick out some Valentine's to take to school to hand out. I went to Target for a $3 box of Valentine's and left with a little more than I planned...

Oops... I guess my sweet tooth took over! For the record those Cherry M&M's are to die for!! I may or may not have killed the whole bag in one night.. They weren't even for me, Dave wanted them and he ate maybe a handful of them? Sorry babe!

Writing his name on his Valentine's. Angry Birds of course. The kids obsessed!

On Friday I sent Kyson to school with his bag full of Valentine's to hand out to all his classmates. Having a kid do all the same things I did growing up is seriously so fun! Exchanging Valentine's in school was one of my favorite things to do. He had so much fun exchanging them and I had so much fun watching him have fun! Dave came home with gorgeous flowers and chocolates and we watched movies all night long. Frozen for the third time, Captain Phillips, Lone Survivor (very hard movie to watch, holy crap!) and a few others. It was the best, I love movie nights at home!

Saturday was our Valentine's date night! We left the kids with their Aunt and cousins and we headed out. I was in the mood for some Italian food so I requested Olive Garden. It was a 30 minute wait that ended up being a five minute wait. Don't you love when that happens? In that five minutes of waiting we spent it sitting outside in the gorgeous weather taking crappy cell phone selfies, or 'cellfies' haha

Anyways dinner was good but the dessert was killer!! White Chocolate Raspberry Swirled Cheesecake with extra raspberry sauce and white chocolate chunks. Oh yeah, we wolfed it down in just a few bites. Our manners went out the window when they brought that cheesecake out to us! It was divine! After we went and did some shopping. Funny story, we were in Express and I was just walking along the wall looking at clothes and this guy was standing next to a tall rack of clothes waiting for his wife. Anyways I didn't see him until I was right next to him and it scared me so bad that I literally screamed in his face!! He started laughing, his wife was laughing, Dave was dying and I was laughing so hard I was crying! That poor man. haha anyways after shopping we went and did the most romantic thing possible for Valentine's Day.. We went grocery shopping! Ha! It's seriously a whole different experience shopping without kids! It wasn't exactly exciting but it was so great being able to do normal things together without battling kids. We went home and even though I was so not ready for our date to be over I missed my babies.

We had a great time and even though we don't get a lot of alone time, every time we do we definitely take advantage! I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day, we sure did!!

XOXO

I've become that wife

A few weeks ago I noticed a pattern that I've started. Something I'm not proud of. I noticed that I have been doing my hair and make up less and less to the point where its more common for me to not get ready than it is for me to get ready! I've become that wife!
A few days ago Dave asked me if I wanted to meet up for lunch the next day. I told him yes but only if I got ready that day. His response? "Right, like that's going to happen!"

Ouch. Talk about a knife to the heart!

It was like a slap to my makeup free face! It's pretty sad when I do get all dolled up, Dave asks me what the occasion is. Apparently he's noticed how rare it is for me to get ready. Oops. Wife fail! So I've decided to change that! Dave and I have been married for almost six years and I think it's safe to say that we've become too comfortable around each other, which I guess when you're married that's a good thing? The first couple years of our marriage I got ready almost every day, whether I had places to go or not. I just wanted to impress my husband. Boy have things changed. Don't get me wrong, I still want to impress Dave but I've just put getting ready lower and lower on my priority list! Another wife fail! I want Dave to be proud of his wife. I want him to get butterflies when he see's me. I don't want to be that lazy housewife that I've become! Two kids is hard!!

So I'm determined and committed to changing my habits and do my hair and makeup every day. Just to simply look my best for my adorable husband. After all he does so much for me, is it really that hard for me to just look my best for him? And when you have a face like mine (pale skin, blonde eyebrows/eyelashes, absolutely no color to my face whatsoever) wearing no makeup is very noticeable! I kind of look like a sick person when I don't wear makeup..

Sexy huh? I was not blessed with natural beauty!

See what a ginormous difference some make up does for me?!

My normal attire has been leggings, an over-sized, spit up stained T-shirt, and Uggs. So I've also decided to actually get dressed every day too. I'm in the process of updating my wardrobe because I feel like I dress like a teenager. I am two weeks away from turning 27. T W E N T Y  S E V E N!! So I'm making my wardrobe more mature-ish without looking like I'm 40. It's been hard finding the right clothes. But I've noticed that Boutiques sell way better clothes than stores at the mall.

So here's to 2014 being a more prettier year for me!

instalife

Presley telling me what she really thinks about taking pictures! Why is it always so cute when babies flip off the world?

Presley had her three month pictures done. Isn't she just beautiful!?

I still can't believe Kyson is five!! I've been a Mother for five years and I've loved every second. Being a Mom is hard but it is such a blessing. I'm excited for our family to keep expanding!

Because when you match your favorite baby girl, you must take a picture of it! Even our gold shoes matched!

We've had three snow days in the last week!! It's been fun staying home with my family but I'm so happy that it'll be back in the seventies this week!

My Presley girl is now four months old! Gasp!! I can't believe how fast time is going!

We have some exciting things happening this year. If you'd like to follow along in our insta journey click here

Presley: 4 months

-Presley rolled over for the first time on January 11th. I'm so proud of her and she's definitely proud of herself! Every time she rolls over she looks around for applause. She has to make sure someone's paying attention to her!

-She weighs 13 pounds and is 24 inches long! Growing Way. Too. Fast.

-She's starting to grab things. And whatever she grabs goes straight to her mouth, including her feet! haha She thinks she needs to chew on everything.

-She's mastered the fake cry! If she's not the center of attention she'll fake cry until someone plays with her. Smart girl!

-She's obsessed with Kyson! Sometimes he's the only person who can cheer her up. It melts my heart into a puddle on the floor!

-Presley loves her car seat! She falls asleep instantly when we put her in it. And she'll stay asleep for an hour or two after we've taken her car seat out of the car. The girl will sleep anywhere!

-Every time I burp her, she'll nestle her face up into my neck and fall asleep!! I love every single time she does it and I hope she never stops. She's such a cuddley baby!

-She giggles all the time! Especially when she's being tickled. She's especially ticklish on her back and ribs. And on her feet.

-She's still in her 3 month clothes, size one diapers, and eats 4-6 ounces every 4-6 hours.

-Sleep training is a killer right now. It was so easy with Kyson but P Town is just not having it! Sigh!

-Her favorite thing in the world is her Taggie Blanket! She gets so excited when she see's it!

We are so in love with Princess Presley! It's so fun getting to know her personality and I cannot wait to see what this next month brings!

snowed in

A couple days ago we finally saw Frozen! Twice. We loved it so much and it definitely put us in the mood for some pretty snow. Well, we got some, yay! I guess Mother Nature didn't appreciate me making fun of the "snow" we got the other day, so she graced us with a real "Texas snow storm" last night. School and work were cancelled and I'm so happy they were! How thoughtful of her!! I love spending an unexpected day with my family! Sometimes it's nice when the city shuts down at the first sight of snow. Ha!

Sometimes getting snowed in is just what you need! A day filled with cuddles, movies, sipping hot chocolate, and snowball fights! All with my very favorite people! Thank you Mother Nature for a great (but freezing cold, 12 degrees! Brr) day!
