surgery, machines, and electricity. oh my.

Tuesday morning I had surgery on my knee. And the worst part about it? It was done at 7:30 in the morning which means I had to be there at 6:30. Not my cup of tea! I am so not a morning girl. Needless to say I fell asleep before I was given any anesthesia haha. Happens every time! The whole surgery lasted 30 minutes, no big deal. I had a torn meniscus so the doc went in with a laser and removed about 30% of it. And if you know anything about your meniscus (which I don't) you'll know that removing any of it is not a good thing, but if you have a torn one like yours truly its even worse. So its a win/lose situation. Once I got home and was feeling good from my anesthesia I got started on my physical therapy. What kind of person makes you start 8 hours of physical therapy the same day as a knee surgery? Oh that's right MY physical therapist!! I guess its really not a big deal but still the same day?! C'mon!! Basically all I have to do is sit in this machine and let it move my leg around for 8 hours. Pretty simple but oh so boring! Also I have to stay hooked up to an electric current and have electricity running through my knee.. Wait what? Electricity? Yep that's how cool I am! I like to do things the extreme way, live life on the wild side. Its pretty cool, kinda feels like my legs asleep. Or a phone vibrating on my leg. Hmm what else does this surgery require of me? Oh yes I have to shower with my leg saran wrapped. I can't get it wet ha its sexy. But no matter how good I wrap it and try to keep it dry, it gets wet every time. I have to ice it, do exercises, and use crutches (even though I don't). I just cannot get the whole crutches thing down! Anyways, if you can avoid tearing your meniscus and having surgery done? DO it! Its not fun and very unattractive. But on the plus side its a surgery that is virtually pain free. No joke!

This is the machine that consumes most of my day. I don't like it.
But if I stay optimistic its the machine that is going to fix my knee :)

Those little pads with the wires sticking out is my electricity(there are 4 pads each is either a + or a -.. There's your science lesson for the day:)). You can't see it but I have a little box strapped to my hip so I can control the amount of electricity. Just in case I want to electrocute myself ha I kid, I kid.

This is what the rest of my week is going to look like. So be a Good Samaritan and keep this girl busy via facebook, blogger, text, words with friends (blondemadsen), wordfeud (blondemadsen) etc.

Just a note, I found out that since I changed my URL address that most of you aren't getting my posts! Sad day for you :( So you have to remove me from your list of blogs that you follow then re-follow me.. I know such a pain but aren't I worth it?! :) PLEASE please please let me know if that fixes it!
Have a great monday!

girls just want to have fu-un.

I had the ultimate girls night yesterday. More like a girls day and night! My good friend Amber is about 8 months pregnant with a girl (is it just me or does it seem like everyone is popping out baby girls?) and we held her baby shower yesterday! SO much fun! I just love being girlie with my friends. She had good food including red velvet cuppie cakes!! I LOVE red velvet anything!! She had cute decorations, fun games and lots of friends there. I won a game cause I have an amazing memory haha and won a little prize. I'm amazed at how creative people are getting with baby gifts these days. Makes me want to have another baby.... in a few years maybe?! MAYBE! :)
Here's a nice close up of me face deep in a poopy diaper

Ok I confess it wasn't a poopy diaper. The game was to melt a candy bar in the diaper and I had to smell it and try to guess what kind of candy bar it was. A melted candy bar in a diaper looks exactly like baby poop!! It was disgusting!! But it smelt good. Haha..

My newly engaged Chelse!!

Later that night we let our red neck sides come out and take over! We went to the Abilene races. Saying that it was loud would be an understatement! Amber's father in law races cars so we went to support him. His car is awesome! Leave it to my camera to take nothing but blurry shots. I need must have a new camera!! I had so much fun on those crappy stands. We felt like they were about to crumble and kill us all. They were so old and worn down! I got to see roll overs, crashes, cars catch fire, and even tires falling off! It was great! Only red necks find that entertaining :) Which apparently there are a lot of red necks here cause these races take place every Saturday night at 8:00. Ha! When I got home I had lines around my face from where my sunglasses sat. Dirt lines, I was covered in dirt! And I had to wear my sunglasses until 11:00 at night. So much dirt flying everywhere! It was gross. I may or may not be a little too girly for that king of stuff. I do not enjoy dirt all over my face! :)

So cool watching them drift corners at those speeds!

My look alike friends Chelse and Amber!
Love these girls :)

changes.

I've made a few changes on the ole' blog. There's the obvious, my blog title, description and my picture. This blog is more about my life, not the life of Dave and I. Yes he's my husband but this is my personal 'journal'. Second my blog address changed from
daveanddenisemadsen.blogspot.com
to
thatgirldenise.blogspot.com
Plan accordingly! :)
I've got some big life changing plans in my near future! I'm not ready to spill the beans quite yet but just keep an eye out for it! Someday I'll share with you but today is not that day. I just want to put it out there that I have the greatest friends and family! In the world! I love them so so much and if I had the time I would list them all by name and what I love about them. But lets be real, I have a toddler running at my feet so I'll keep this short! I have a friend, his name is Cory. We've been friends for a long time, A lot of people say married girls can't be friends with guys I say shame on you! Of course they can, I'm friends with a guy!! Anyways Cory is one of my besties! He's seen me go through things that people just shouldn't have to go through. Cory has a beautiful wife, Allie, and I just adore them as a couple! :)
Here's a picture of us from about 5 years ago:

Book Report

I went to the bookstore Borders two days ago and got a couple new books to read. One of the books I got was A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard. Oh. My. Gosh. it was so disturbing, so sad, and so detailed! But such a good book. She is such a strong woman and has such a great outlook on her new life. I read it in less than 24 hours, all 273 pages of it. In it she includes journal entries, pictures, and reflections. I cried multiple times while reading it!! It does drop the F bomb a couple times (which I had no idea would be in it, but once I start a book I can't put it down until its finished) and has very detailed parts. So beware. I got my mother in law to read it and she also read it in only a few hours. I can't imagine what that poor girl went through. No one should ever have to experience something like that! Anyways if your looking for a book to read, here you go!

my signature will be famous

I've been trying to figure out how to make a signature for the last two hours! Yes, I have that much time on my hands (don't judge me) but I was determined to figure it out. And this here post is to see if it worked. So wish me luck :)

As you all know yesterday was the hubster and my anniversary. 3 whole years! So I'll share what our day consisted of. Since we're still in South Dakota we really didn't know much about the town. My honey bunny had to work until 3:00 so I had the first half of the day to myself. I read! That whole time :) Once he finally got off work he surprised me with these:

Aren't they pretty?!

So we didn't really know what to do since it was raining and cold outside. We decided it was a perfect night to stay indoors where its warm. So we got in the car and left! haha.. We went out to dinner then did one of my favorite things.. Shopping!! My man knows how to spoil me! The small town mall just happened to have my favorite store.. Vanity!! I LOVE that store. I could spend our whole life savings in that store, in a single trip! After our shopping we rented a couple movies and headed back to our hotel room. We watched The Dilemma and The Adjustment Bureau. Holy crap, The Adjustment Bureau was SO good!

And thats how we spent our Anniversary. Very low key but just perfect for a cold rainy night! And now the moment we've (I've) been waiting for, my new signature!!

Happy Anniversary

July 11, 2008

This was love at first sight, love everlasting: a feeling unknown, unhoped for, unexpected–in so far as it could be a matter of conscious awareness; it took entire possession of him, and he understood, with joyous amazement, that this was for life.
Thomas Mann

True love is eternal, infinite, and always like itself. It is equal and pure, without violent demonstrations: it is seen with white hairs and is always young in the heart.
Honore de Balzac

Two souls with but a single thought, two hearts that beat as one.
John Keats

I wish to belong to you, I’ll be the one you’re looking for and we’ll be the one heaven’s searching for!
For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.
Judy Garland

3 years ago today I walked into the temple so nervous and so excited! I married my best friend! We walked out hand in hand as husband and wife!! 3 years ago today our lives changed forever!

True love stories never have endings.

Anniversary Week

Ok so our 3 year anniversary is on monday but since Dave is TDY right now we celebrated this week. Kyson has been with his grandparents all week long, 5 hours away. So what better time to celebrate your anniversary then when you have alone time with your man! Its been SO fun this week considering him working half the day, everyday. One thing about being a military wife is you have to be full of patience! They get thrown TDY's and deploymeants left and right! Since Dave had to take a class for two weeks in South Dakota we decided to make it a vacation and I'm so glad we did! Its been non stop fun :)

Monday: We showed our patriotic side and went to Mt Rushmore for the 4th of July.

Once we had our history fix we drove down the mountain and stopped to make friends with this guy

I'll let you know that he was this close to us, my camara was not in zoom! It was so scary but exciting at the same time. Bears are really disgusting haha they definitely need a good hairstylist to brush through that nappy fur! :)
But these guys were So cute!

Since we were on a schedule we had to say so long to our new friends and head to the city park where we watched the fireworks! We had the perfect spot!
Pretty roses and flowers were EVERYWHERE

Rapid CIty is the cutest small town I've ever been too. If you get a chance to pass through, DO IT!!

Happy 4th of July

Tuesday: We went to Fuddruckers, did some shopping and went to a movie.

Yummy Fuddruckers. Their Taco Salads are to die for!

This is how we do our shopping.. acting like kids and trying to embarass each other!

...and singing and dancing in the car to Katy Perry :)

Wednesday: We went to an indoor waterpark called Wa Tiki Waterpark and ate dinner at a 1940's style diner. And if you know me you know that I have a slight obsession with the 40s, 50s, and 60s.

So fun

This little park kept smiles on our faces

and it had a real pretty river to float down

We went home and got beautified so we could go to dinner.

What happens when you share a milk shake with your hubby?

This happens! You get whip cream on your nose!

I'm making myself hungry...

This diner was so cool. Each table had a little juke box, and we took advantage of it! Who doesn't love listening to the Beach Boys?! Our waitress was dressed up in a poodle skirt and the decor was just perfect! I seriously love seeing what my grandparents grew up in!

Thursday: We went to a place that was probably made for kids but we had a lot of fun. I don't remember the name of it..

 We went rock climbing.
We also did:
This weird basketball game. If you pay attention to the backboards you'll notice how jacked up they are. You have to stand in a circle and bounce the ball off the rim into the hoop. It was SO hard and SO funny!
Then we had an amature dunk contest!

hahaha

We had a water balloon fight but didn't get any pictures of that and we hit up the batting cages.

Look at that form!

Next up is mini golf..
mini golfs Vanna White! HA!

haha don't ask..
I just need to put this out on the record that I made a hole in one on a sloped green. Oh yes I'm that awesome! :)

Today is friday and all we're doing today is making a five hour drive back up to North Dakota to get my baby boy! I miss him so much and I'm so excited to play with my Kyson again. Sorry for all the massive posts lately but we've got a lot of ground to cover in a short time. I figured a couple ginormous ones was better then a hundred little ones. If you don't like it, deal with it!! ha :)

Love you guys!!

Status: Vacationing Week: 1

Caution: Beware of picture overload!

The hubbs, kiddo and I have been on a vacation for about a week and a half now and I can't even begin to explain how fun its been! First we drove our cute little bums on up to Kansas to stay with my sister and her adorable family. I never imagined Kansas to be so beautiful, but I was so wrong!! It was gorgeous. So lush and green with trees and hills, ah so pretty!
welcome to Kansas

We took a hike up a really steep hill overlooking Fort Riley

After a couple days of hiking, games, good food and watching firelflies we got back on the road for South North Dakota. We had originally planned on staying the night in South Dakota but Dave talked me into driving another five hours to North Dakota.. Big mistake!! Kyson was not a happy camper. I guess 15 hours on the road in one day is just too much for a two year old. Lesson learned! We drove through:
(I forgot to get a picture with the Oklahoma sign and it was pitch black when we crossed into North Dakota)

We finally made it to our destination.. Small town USA!! No where near civilization!! Here are some highlights from week one of our vacation.

We got a private viewing of Transformers 3

We loved the four wheeler

I destroyed Dave at Just Dance

I couldn't put the fork down

We played at the park

Kyson can hold his own weight

And he attracted all the ladies at the pool

We did our fireworks

iPad's are freakin' awesome

We had barbeques

The next few pictures are of us teaching the family how to dance, Dave and Denise style!

Now thats talent :)

We watched The Blind Side

Went to the driving range

Aww

made foil dinners

Swam.. a lot

I just love my Kyson, he's so brave.
So thats what the first week was like. Its a party everywhere we go! We definitely don't have many dull moments. We like to make the best out of everything and live life with smiles on our faces. :)
