We had a pretty laid back 4th of July. We grilled up some pineapple pork chops made some crock pot bbq baked beans and snacked on some festive snacks but other than that? It was pretty low key. Dave was voluntold he would be the "shop chief" of mid shift (graveyard shift) a few months ago so he's on a completely different schedule than us. Sleep all day, work all night. It's been awful!! So we do the best we can with what little time and energy he has with us. So we took a family nap, I baked and cooked all morning and we just relaxed all day. I would have loved to get out on do some fun outdoorsy things but I knew Dave was completely exhausted and needed his rest. The food was delish and the nap was pretty amazing so I'm not complaining too much! :)
We did a tiny photo shoot to show off the kids cute 'merica outfits. Ha it was a disaster. But such is life with a wannabe teenager and a toddler in full force! Fireworks were banned within city limits and even the city passed on putting on a fireworks show this year so we missed out on the fireworks. I was totally bummed but we made up for it with a Back to the Future marathon ha.
I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday! We are so thankful for those who fight to protect our freedoms. We will forever be in your debt! Home of the free because of the brave!
Seriously when did your kids get so big?! I know the feeling of having a husband with a wacky schedule. Sounds like you managed to enjoy the 4th of July though! I'll have to look up a crock pot baked bean recipe... that sounds good!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh it's so good!! I'll have to share the recipe one of these days!
Deleteyou are the cutest ever!!! I hate when they get voluntold to change shifts and than we all get on different schedules but sounds like a nice relaxing 4th of july. We did the same thing and even watched the fireworks on tv.lol
