I've become that wife

A few weeks ago I noticed a pattern that I've started. Something I'm not proud of. I noticed that I have been doing my hair and make up less and less to the point where its more common for me to not get ready than it is for me to get ready! I've become that wife!
A few days ago Dave asked me if I wanted to meet up for lunch the next day. I told him yes but only if I got ready that day. His response? "Right, like that's going to happen!"

Ouch. Talk about a knife to the heart!

It was like a slap to my makeup free face! It's pretty sad when I do get all dolled up, Dave asks me what the occasion is. Apparently he's noticed how rare it is for me to get ready. Oops. Wife fail! So I've decided to change that! Dave and I have been married for almost six years and I think it's safe to say that we've become too comfortable around each other, which I guess when you're married that's a good thing? The first couple years of our marriage I got ready almost every day, whether I had places to go or not. I just wanted to impress my husband. Boy have things changed. Don't get me wrong, I still want to impress Dave but I've just put getting ready lower and lower on my priority list! Another wife fail! I want Dave to be proud of his wife. I want him to get butterflies when he see's me. I don't want to be that lazy housewife that I've become! Two kids is hard!!

So I'm determined and committed to changing my habits and do my hair and makeup every day. Just to simply look my best for my adorable husband. After all he does so much for me, is it really that hard for me to just look my best for him? And when you have a face like mine (pale skin, blonde eyebrows/eyelashes, absolutely no color to my face whatsoever) wearing no makeup is very noticeable! I kind of look like a sick person when I don't wear makeup..

Sexy huh? I was not blessed with natural beauty!

See what a ginormous difference some make up does for me?!

My normal attire has been leggings, an over-sized, spit up stained T-shirt, and Uggs. So I've also decided to actually get dressed every day too. I'm in the process of updating my wardrobe because I feel like I dress like a teenager. I am two weeks away from turning 27. T W E N T Y  S E V E N!! So I'm making my wardrobe more mature-ish without looking like I'm 40. It's been hard finding the right clothes. But I've noticed that Boutiques sell way better clothes than stores at the mall.

So here's to 2014 being a more prettier year for me!

  1. You are a doll make up hair done or not. Your beautiful but I totally get wanting to look prettier and making your husband take a 2nd look at you lol. Im horrible about pulling my hair up and heading out the door on wrk days bc its so much easier to deal with were I work but I'm trying to be better. Here's to 2014 being a prettier year!!!!

  2. This post TOTALLY spoke to my heart! Unless I make myself do it, I'm terrible about doing my hair and makeup! I try to do an "easy face" every day though; curl the eyelashes, mascara, and neutral eyeshadow. My hair is up in a messy bun 99.8% of the time, but I figure that if I can at least have makeup on than it isn't too bad ;)

  4. I'm sure your husband thinks your beautiful either way.

I know the feeling. I don't ever have the energy to get ready anymore either. I'm too busy with the kiddos and when I do have a little bit of time....getting ready is not what I choose to do. {I blog!!} lol I'm lucky if I get a shower. haha Plus, I always think....what's the point in wasting makeup if I'm not going anywhere....but, you are right. It's sorta like we let ourselves go. We have to feel good about ourselves and if that means getting dressed and putting on makeup everyday...then by golly, I guess we should do it. :)'

  6. I know exactly how you feel! Ever since I became a mommy (my son is 3 months old) I feel like I never put any effort into my appearance. Now that I am back to work, I have gotten better because I actually have to put on clothes for work (and not just leggings and a tshirt!) but by the time my hubs gets home from work (around 9pm) I am already in sweats so he doesn't even see my "real clothes" I definitely need to put more time and effort into my outfits/hair/makeup!
