how we do the superbowl

Saturday night we made all of our plans for the Superbowl. We planned on waking up, going to to church, coming home and BBQ'ing our butts off! We invited some family over to watch the game with us and it was going to be an all day event. We woke up to text messages saying church had been cancelled because of the snow. Snow?! What snow? We looked out the window and laughed. This is what we saw:

Texas's wicked snowstorm of 2014

There was a whole 1/8 of an inch in some places. No wonder the entire town shut down!! This is the third time this winter that church has been canceled for "snow!" haha Anyways so we spent the day just cuddled up on the couch watching movies. Once everyone came over we started cooking up our feast. And let me say, it was delicious! The Madsen's really know how to do BBQ's! I married into an awesome family.

We ate and snacked all night while watching the game. Speaking of the game? Was anyone else disappointed in the entire thing? The game sucked, the commercials sucked, the halftime show sucked. I thought Bruno Mars did an awesome job, but since I've never been a fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers I thought they completely ruined it! And since when are the Superbowl commercials heartfelt and full of deep meaningful thoughts? Aren't they supposed to be funny? I was not impressed!

The game itself was so boring. It was such a blowout that we didn't even really watch it. We sat and talked. The game was more like background noise. And since my beloved Packers didn't even come close to making it to the SB, I decided to cheer on the Broncos. Big mistake ha!
This was my improvised "go Broncos outfit" for Presley.

Well, I tried! She ended up in just a diaper anyways from drool and spit up. Babies are fun! I asked Kyson to be in the pictures with her but he said he couldn't because he was a Ninja Turtle and he was protecting me. Aww!
This year was officially the lamest Superbowl ever! How did you spend the Superbowl?

  3. Wow that food looks amazing! Yeah, I'm not a huge football fan, so I was at a Superbowl party, but I didn't watch much of the game either :) Hanging with friends and family is the best part of the Superbowl anyway, right? ;)

  4. Ya, the super bowl was a HUGE disappointment. I still love my broncos, but that game did not reflect the amazing season they had... I was pretty sad. But your food looks really yummy :) And Presley looks adorable as always

  5. We aren't Denver fans, but Manning fans here. I was so disappointed with the game! I've been waiting for that match up all season. The food looks yummy! We had a wicked ice storm here in MD and were without power for a whole day, some people still don't have it. :(

  7. Yup, I think that's about right for Texas standards of snow. We actually had a snow day that week (I think it was that week?) We are in Texas too :)
