Party!

A few weeks ago my friend and I decided we wanted to throw a kids Halloween party this year. We started planning and well to be honest, she did 99% of the work! I was just too busy and I'm not the best party planner. I feel terrible that it was all on her shoulders but I get points for helping her clean up right? Anyways, it was a cute party with a lot of little kids running around. Every kid that is, except my kid. Kyson is seriously so against Halloween. It's breaks my heart! But he had fun drawing all over the sidewalk with chalk.

Cutest monster ever. If I ever have a daughter I just pray that she's half as cute as this girl! She's my buddy that loves giving me hugs every time I see her. It makes my heart happy :)
If you really want a good laugh, get a bunch of kids together for a donut eating contest!
I was crying from laughing so hard! This picture cracks me up.
The not so brave Iron Man. Kyson was being anti social!
Our sad attempt at dressing up this year. We were kind of lazy..

Is anyone else getting tired of Halloween posts? I am so over it haha too bad I'm not finished with them though.. ;)

carving pumpkins

I HATE pumpkin guts!!
But as a parent you often do things that you don't like.
We spent our Sunday night carving pumpkins as a family. Kyson lost interest about 40 seconds into it and decided cartoons were more important. So Dave and I dove in and were completely grossed out the entire time! It was fun though. We love making our own traditions each holiday and carving pumpkins is starting to be an every year thing for us. But isn't it for most families with kids?
We're proud of our pumpkins :)

weekend getaway

This weekend Dave and I had been planning on going to San Antonio for a couple of months to meet up with my sister. Her family has never been so we were pretty excited to play tour guide for them. Unfortunately they had to cancel last minute. Dave and I were so bummed and since we already had the money saved up and the time off from work we decided to go to Dallas instead. We invited Dave's friend who has a girlfriend in Dallas and made a weekend of it.
We spent our time eating unhealthy delicious food and shopping until our bank accounts were crying. Dallas has some awesome shopping! We did a lot of Christmas shopping down there. We hit up a Toys R Us and the guys had more fun playing with toys then Kyson did. They are a bunch of big kids and the cashier totally fell in love with them for it haha. Dallas is such a neat city with a lot to offer. We had a blast! So much fun in fact that I only took one picture.. We were too busy living in the moment to think about snapping a pic.

The one picture I did take was at Joe's Crab Shack. YUM!!

Texas had a cold front hit us this weekend and it wouldn't have been that bad if all three of us weren't already sick. It put a thorn in our sides the whole time and we're definitely kicking ourselves in the butt for going out but it was so worth it!
Until next time Dallas!

two truths and a lie

So every Tuesday Asha is doing a new link up series called Two Truths and a Lie. Me being the forgetful person I've recently turned into forgot all about it yesterday, so I'm linking up a day late! Basically these are the rules.
-Come up with two truths about yourself. It can be anything you deem worthy!
-Make up a lie!
-Reveal the lie at the end of your post.

Easy peesy lemon squeezy!

I kept asking Dave to help me come up with two things about me that you guys don't already know. I immediately became depressed because I'm pretty sure I've spilled the beans about my entire life on this blog! I need to live a more exciting life!

-In middle school I fainted in my shop class and hit my head on a table. I woke up in the main office.
-I was born on the way to the hospital. In an ambulance.
-I ran into a door so hard that I actually went thru it!

And just to leave you guys in suspense enjoy this picture of me.

So the lie?
I was totally born in a hospital, not an ambulance!
SURPRISE!

Q & A VLOG style

Last week I had you guys come up with some questions for Dave and I. This is us answering them.
It's kind of long but completely worth it. And ignore the last 2 minutes, I pushed the wrong button to stop recording it so it kept on recording. We're not even in the screen.. I suck at life!
Enjoy!

We had so much fun making this video that even Dave wants to do it more often! It's a Christmas miracle!!
So once a month? Maybe once a week? We're going to do a vlog. So ask more questions for us to answer! Funny questions are funner ;)

let the holidays begin

I kept seeing my facebook friends posting pictures of their cute kids at the pumpkin patch in our area. And they were such cute pictures. I immediately decided I had to take Kyson. So I called up my friend and set up a little date. Dave got off work early so we could go in time for the hay rides.
We got there and it turned out to be a total bust! No hay rides, no games for the kids, and the picture taking area's were lame. But we still had a good time picking out pumpkins and having girl talk (+Dave). This is the greatest time of the year and we are determined to enjoy every day of it, after all it's the last time we'll be able to enjoy it since the world is ending in two months!! (I really don't believe that but it's fun to get people worked up about it)

why is it merely impossible to get kids to sit still for 3 seconds TOPS to take a picture?? At least Kyson is happy about something. Two thumbs up!

We took Kyson Halloween costume shopping and I'm 99.99% positive that he's scarred for life.
They make those Halloween Bootique stores SO scary these days. With zombies, headless corpses, killer babies etc
He was so scared Dave had to carry him the entire time! The poor kid had his face buried in Dave's chest the whole time. :(
After about 700 'no's' from Kyson we finally settled on a costume for him. The kid is not stoked about dressing up and walking around getting free candy. I'm 25 years old and I still get excited about that!!
He's being a total Halloween Scrooge. :(

not the most flattering picture of me I know, but look at the creepy freaking babies!! But I guess in some countries it's totally normal for babies to eat themselves starting at the foot. Just add salt?
Nightmares!!!

See what I mean? Halloween costume shopping is officially R rated and children are not allowed! So hide yo kids, hide yo wife and hide yo husband too, cause they gettin' everyone!

insta life + questions

I'm working on a special blog post and my husband has so graciously agreed to help me with it. But we can't do it without some help from our friends.
Is there anything you want to ask us? Either of us? Is there something you want to ask just to see what our response would be? Serious or not so serious?
We need questions from you guys. Lots and lots of questions! It can be anything. What's the capital of Uguanda? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? What did I wear on our first date? Anything you want and as many as you want! Just ask. It's going to be a fun post, I promise! So start asking :)
And it's going to be really sad and awkward if no one asks me anything...
Moving on.. I post a lot of pictures on instagram.. Follow me denisemadsen1 and leave your username so I can follow you too!
This has been us via instagram the last few weeks.

 cake batter chocolate chip cookies

Halloween shopping. Kyson was so scared of this store from all of these creepers everywhere. Poor baby :(
Scarf and boot weather has arrived!!

 We're in love :)

 Where's Waldo? No, where's Kyson!
 College football game

This is what happens when Kyson thinks he's a magician...

There was a lot of tension in our house that day...

if you really knew us

I keep seeing this floating around blog land and really wanted to give it a go. And then I kept forgetting..
Until now!

If you really knew me..

You'd know that I'm the most sarcastic person in the world. The. Entire. World.
You'd know that I'm kind of a fashionista.
You'd know that my Faith and beliefs mean the world to me and nothing you do or say will change that.
You'd know that I'm very Independent.
You'd also know that I can't stand being wrong, in any way!
I'm very stubborn!
You'd know that I said no when my husband asked me to marry him the first time.
You'd know that I can get shots all day long but when it comes to getting blood drawn, I'm a big baby.
You'd know that I can't sleep if my husband is touching me at all, and I can't be face to face with him while sleeping either.
You'd know that I love having things between my toes.
You'd know that I'm really good at rapping, even though I don't like rap.
You'd know that I polish all the stainless steel in my kitchen every time I do the dishes.
You'd know that it took me all 4 years of marriage to finally truly fall in love with my hubby
But I am very, very deeply in love with him :)

If you really knew Dave..
You'd know that he loves his job and is the hardest worker I have ever seen.
You'd know he's a die hard BYU fan.
You'd know that he's not afraid to embarrass me in public. Like talking about sex in front of cashiers just to make me go bright red.
You'd know that he knows everything about engines.
You'd know that he's very book smart, especially about history.
You'd know that he has the most perfect butt out there :)
You'd know he loves taking me shopping! (which is awesome)
You'd know he's a natural at playing sports.
You'd know he's a hopeless romantic.
You'd know he doesn't complain about anything!
You'd know that he's the most amazing father to our cute little boy.
You'd know he has killer road rage!!
You'd also know that he can make me laugh no matter how pissed off I am!

If you really knew us..
You'd know that we are very immature around each other!
You'd know we can keep a joke going on and on and on for days, weeks, YEARS!
You'd know that we can look at each other and know exactly what the other person's thinking. It's kind of creepy actually.
You'd know that we have a dirty sense of humor around each other.
You'd know we back each other up 100% of the time, no matter what!
You'd know we disagree on most things.
You'd know its a rule in our house to dance every time the Packers make a touchdown.
You'd know our nicknames for each other are Testie Bestie and Breastie Bestie (like I said, immature)
You'd know we like to mess with the person at the drive thru.
You'd know that our real wedding took place 3 days after getting engaged. We kind of eloped.
You'd know how often our conversations are all about making the other person uncomfortable (pooping, periods, pregnancy juices) We really do have issues!
You'd know that God is the center of our marriage! Always!

drive in movie - Taken 2

When we got word that our Drive In Theater was being shut down I almost cried. They make so much money there! But with new technologies with digital films they don't have the right equipment to keep up with newer movies. And they are VERY expensive pieces of equipment. So they have no choice but to shut down. It breaks my heart! And even though it wont be for about a year, my hope for man kind has vanished!
We went and saw Taken 2. Dave and I both LOVED Taken and jumped for joy when we saw previews for a sequel. So Dave packed up the truck full of sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, and warm comfy clothes for me (he had to meet me there because I was working late) and picked up a Hot N Ready and met me there. It was a cold night and so perfect to snuggle up next to my man for a theatrical adventure.

my baby is growing up so fast :(
My feet aren't as massive as they look. Promise!

It was the comfiest movie I've ever been too :)
